SEX-E-ONE

Tonight when Robin got home from work, there was a car blocking her out of our driveway. She honked and waved and cursed and eventually they moved out of her way (but not before she caught a glimpse of their license plate). When Robin told me about "Sex E One," I immediately grabbed my camera and ran outside to grab a snap. Being the smooth guy that I am, I started off by pretending to photograph other things such as a bicycle, my doorway etc. When I finally felt ready, I pounced and landed the shot that you see here. If it looks a little blurry, that's because my "smooth guy act"ended up freaking out the driver who began to drive away as soon as I started setting up for my shot. Anyhow, five minutes passed when suddenly there was a knock at our front door. It was the woman from the car and she wanted to know why I had photographed her daughter's license plate. I told her I that I had photographed it because it is hilarious, at which point she breathed a sigh of relief (she thought that I was going to send the photo to the police because they had parked in front of our driveway).

People You Ought To Know

Yeah, this is me and my good friend Brian Ulrich tonight on our way to do a photo shoot. Brian is a great photographer and has an upcoming show at The Art Institute of Chicago (Brian is one of my friends who I know will without a doubt make a name for himself). The Art Institute needs a publicity headshot of Brian for their upcoming catalog and so he asked me if I would photograph him at the Best Buy on North Avenue. We photographed for awhile and it was a good time (no hassles from the employees). After shooting our headshots, Brian and I headed out for a burger and a beer and some good conversation. These are two very romantic shots of us illuminated by a neon sign in the window of the bar . . . it was great to catch up.

An Afternoon with Matt

This morning I met up with Matt to catch up. Matt's one of my best friends but it had been a while since we'd seen each other (it's been a busy summer). We met for some coffee, went for a walk and ended up grabbing lunch at a neighborhood bar. Matt and I have been competitive Golden Tee players for quite some time and embarked upon a friendly game at the bar. Matt always wins, he's got this amazing talent to hit the ball further than anyone I've ever seen. Today it was God versus Mr. D. and I'm sorry to say . . . God lost. After our game Matt made some dirty poses out in the street. I liked them a lot.

No Longer Pregnant

It's official, my best friend Ben and his wife Leslie had their first son this afternoon shortly after 12. They're yet to name him, but regardless their will be many fun afternoons spent at Shea Stadium and many celebratory cigars to be smoked.

The Air Conditioner

The guys who live upstairs from us are really nice, but they have the leakiest air conditioner I've ever seen in my life. This was the scene when I got home from work tonight, that puddle on the ground is an afternoon's worth of precipitation. One night Robin and I were on our way out to dinner when I man stopped us on the sidewalk and told us how to fix a leaky air conditioner: you take a comb and straighten out the metal grooves on the front of the unit. I passed this little pearl of wisdom on to the guys upstairs and they're working on remedying the situation.

Roots

All of my life, I've never met another person with my last name. Today I randomly decided to google my name and these are some of the faces that turned up. I can't decide if I'm related to these people or if we just share the same name. It makes me think of that old comic strip by Harvey Pekar where he finds two other Harvey Pekar's in the Cleveland phonebook. I wonder if any of these Gitelsons have ever googled me?

GOT THE SKILLS TO PAY THE BILLS

This photograph is my new pet project at work. Each day I photograph a part of my office and tape the resulting polaroid next to said object. Nobody has caught me yet, I wonder if they even notice???

Gone Shopping?

Today I went out to WholeFoods to buy a case of toothpics. I've been thinking lately that it would be a good challenge to try and post one entry every day (translation: a lot of mundane information). So this photo is of my hand carrying a basket full of sparkling water, soy milk and some other things. If shopping pictures get you hot and heavy, you should check out my friend Brian's site.

America's Heartland

Robin and I recently spent a weekend in the great state of Iowa. I had never been to Iowa before and despite both snickers and jeers, I found Iowa to be pretty exotic and exciting. It still catches me off guard from time to time that I live in the midwest. While in Iowa, we stayed in a pretty fancy hotel where they gave us chocolates on our bed each morning as well as earplugs, eye covers and a meditative cd for falling asleep. This is the view from our window and if you look really hard, you might see the boyhood home of Ashton Kutcher
